The Operations Strategic Support Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.

Engineer Senior – Business Architect – Data

Ball Aerospace is looking for an experienced data engineer to join the Mission & Process Analytics (MPA) team. 

What You’ll Do:

  • The Development team creates and maintains web and desktop applications that augment and integrate Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions. Primary solutions are internally business facing to support our design and manufacturing processes.
  • Accountable for completing data deliverables including mapping and strategy documentation, data identification, data sources, mapping, and the coordination and completion of all data cleansing activities.
  • Work with the Data SMEs, Product Owners, Business Architect/Analysts, users, and Technical Data Architect to define the data requirements and structure for the application.
  • Work with the extended team on resourcing data cleansing and data migration validation.
  • Collaborate with team members and business stakeholders on projects that answer key questions that enable informed decision-making.
  • Develop data and quality requirements for enterprise level data models.
  • Identify data delinquencies that can be mitigated through process improvements.
  • Perform systematic quality checks on data models.
  • Predict data model issues while supporting development of new systems through use of conceptual data.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e. master’s degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • A passion for solving problems and finding answers to business questions.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation and go-getter attitude is required.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
  • Understands current state data model vs. future state data model to ensure data fidelity following data migrations.
  • Understanding of/experience with DEV/OPS and utilizing Agile Methodology to execute large scale software projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
