Rehires not eligible.Pay range is $15.00-$20.60 per hour depending on years of relevant and like experience, additional consideration based on years of experience.

There is an additional $2/hr for working weekend shifts.Boulder Community Health is Certified Level II Trauma Center.

The purpose of this work is to contribute to the creation and maintenance of a clean, attractive environment for all patients, staff and visitors.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation or Formal TrainingMust be able to read written instructions and check lists, and to understand and follow written and verbal instructions (exceptions made based on the discretion of the manager).Knowledge, Skill and Ability1.

Must have good manual dexterity, adequate hearing to answer pages and to communicate verbally, adequate vision to discern items needing cleaning, balance for climbing ladders.2.

Must be able to set work priorities according to the needs of the shift.3.

Must be able to maintain sound relationships with employees in other departments.4.

Must be able to cope with interruptions and temporary re-assignment of duties.5.

Must be able to communicate clearly to all hospital staff.Experience Preferred, but not necessaryMATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USEDAll housekeeping Assistants will use floor mops, wall mops, high dusters, upright vacuums, tank vacuums, various cleaning chemicals (sprayed and non-sprayed), buckets, toilet swabs, and rags.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIESThis is a hospital/health care environment.

Any employee in this department may be subjected occasionally to unpleasant odor and unsightly conditions.

May be exposed to cytotoxic drugs.1.

One or a combination of any of: standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing/pulling, and reaching (including high or overhead, medium, and low arm movement).

[80%-100% of the shift]2.

Lifting up to 25 pounds of trash, linen or supplies.3.

Pushing/pulling furniture, supplies and cleaning carts.4.

If hired or temporarily assigned to clean ancillary areas, must lift up to 50 pounds, and push a wheeled trash cart weighing up to 400 pounds fully loaded.5.

Handle heavy floor equipment, i.E., carpet extractors, swing buffers, auto scrubbers.6.

Using a ladder or step stool to reach areas above shoulder level.INTERRELATIONSHIPS1.

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors and nursing personnel.2.

Must be able to respond effectively to age-specific differences in all areas of the hospital.4.

Must be able to recognize co-workers and other department staff in need and assist them without direction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES1.

Cleans an assigned area, including all horizontal surfaces, sinks, toilets, showers, floors, and detail work.2.

Performs floor care (tile and carpeted surfaces), which may include vacuuming and mopping.3.

Assists in the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as assigned.4.

Provides adequate supplies to assigned work units.5.

Promotes a positive image of the department and the hospital by consistently following ENCORE!

Familiar with organization fire, safety, and disaster policies.7.

Orders supplies and maintains departmental inventory.8.

Demonstrates knowledge of safety awareness in performance of all duties.9.

Assist in linen distribution, and nursing requests.10.

Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards.11.

Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure.OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES1.

Notifies supervisor or Engineering when repairs are needed2.

Helps other EVS Techs as needed.3.

Washes walls and ceilings as needed.4.

Assists in training new employees.5.

Reports any safety hazards observed anywhere in the building.6.

Other duties as may be assigned.7.

Responsible for being current on all safety training, policies and procedures.8.

Open minded to learn duties in other areas of the hospital to assist where needed.9.

All employees are expected to remain flexible to meet the needs of the hospital, which may include floating to other departments to assist as the patient needs fluctuate.PATIENT CARE/INTERACTIONWhen applicable, employees must be able to adjust the essential functions they perform appropriately to the age of their patient/customer.

Employees must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.
