Quality & Medical Staff Manager

Boulder Community Health

This is a Full-time position in Boulder, CO posted October 9, 2021.

Full Time, Days.

Pay range is between $33.86-$50.80/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience.

POSITION SUMMARY Quality & Medical Staff meetings (65%) Responsible for coordinating the Medical Staff’s quality/peer review activities, as well as certain other key aspects of the Medical Staff organization.

Supports the program specific CME programs and provides support to the Director.

Assures compliance with state and federal laws, Joint Commission on Accreditation and external regulatory agencies.

Facilitates and participates in highly sensitive and confidential risk-management activities and must maintain a high standard of professionalism.

Credentialing & Database Supervision (25%) Credentialing: Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Medical Staff Department’s credentialing and database staff.

Provides supervision and direction for the timely and complete application process ensuring quality and compliance with federal, state and local governance documents of all applicants (to include initial and reappointment).

Providing support to the credentialing team in all surveys.

Facilitates and participates in highly sensitive and confidential credentialing activities and must always maintain confidentiality.

Participates in the credentialing department meetings and reports pertinent developments to the Director.

Database: Provides supervision and direction for the database ensuring data integrity and appropriate entity development in alignment with BCH’s strategic initiatives.

Supporting the team members with expertise and project enhancement.

Reports pertinent development so the Director.

Administration (10%) Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department.

Supervising staff and projects, reporting related issues to the Director.

Monitoring the annual budget and ensuring fidelity reporting variances to the Director.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Bachelor’s degree in Administration required, Master’s degree in Hospital Administration or related field preferred; Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified Professional in Medical Services Management, or Certified Professional in Patient Safety or related certification required.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability * Effective organizational and personal communication skills including written, verbal, attitudinal and persuasion skills.

* Functions independently with initiative, creativity and effective analytical problem solving.

* Uses tact, discretion and objectivity in dealing with confidential and highly emotional situations.

Demonstrates capacity for motivating, facilitating, developing and leading people.

* Ability to work under pressure with perseverance and fortitude.

Demonstrated success in supervising staff and day-to-day operations of a Medical Staff Department.

* Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Experience * Extensive staffing supervisory experience managing team members in various projects all seeking to actualize the department’s goals.

* Experience conducting research in multiple medical electronic health records.

* A minimum of five years’ experience in medical/quality field required.

Ten years preferred * Success in leading projects, working collaboratively with other departments with demonstrated success within the last twelve months * Computer experience with word processing, HER, databases such as Premier or similar platforms, etc.


MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Lifting/Moving files, computer work, ability to go between office buildings, transport of materials to meetings and occasionally, delivering items to physician’s offices.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES * Supervises credentialing and database team members, holding meetings and providing expert support as needed.

* Research medical quality issues, prioritizing work independently, deal with pressure of deadlines and high workload, understanding the importance of detail and accuracy.

* Delegating projects to team members as appropriate * Supervises processes and projects with systems, departments and individuals within BCH healthcare system who perform them to ensure accreditation standards, federal accreditation and laws, state regulations, and Medical Staff governance documents upheld.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Responsibilities as the Medical Staff Quality & Meeting Supervisor * Working with the Director of Medical Staff and BCH’s Quality Department, the Medical Staff Quality & Meeting Supervisor will be the project lead to complete the annual quality assessment plan to include the PPE quality indicators, Peer Review Plan, and all related documents.

Submits recommendation to MEC leadership, monitors approval process, and relays any appropriate information to all related departments.

* Develops and monitors annual department budget * Manages payroll for Department * Manages all personnel development, evaluation including annual SEEs, and any performance issues reporting directly to the Department’s Director.
