HP: Data Science Solution Program Manager


This is a Full-time position in Fort Collins, CO posted September 11, 2021.

Description:The Data Science business of HP is a fast growing, fast moving, high performance, high-integrity organization looking for motivated and talented team members with a passion for customers.

Data Science Solution Program Manager – This role is greater than managing cross-functional teams and ensuring that they meet their deliverables.

This role will be accountable for the solutions.

The solution includes all parts of the program including: Go-to-Market, Product Marketing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Product Engineering, etc.

You will need to ensure that all relevant data provided by the cross-functional teams has been confirmed.

This role begins engagement during the ideation phase of the solution and will continue through end-of-life of the solution.

You will ensure that the solution meets customer and business objectives.

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.

This includes the ability to successfully identify an issue and propose a resolution.

A good example is the Mckinsey problem solving method.

Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in both Mandarin and English is a must.

Responsible for the development and execution management of program plans and specifications for business initiatives or for the release of new products.

Organize and lead cross-functional teams to ensure the execution of all deliverables to meet the needs of a complete solution.

Ensures ownership and alignment is achieved between external and internal partners to meet program goals as defined by the lifecycle and other processes.

Acts as the champion of the complete solution for the products or initiative for which she/he is responsible.

Provides leadership, guidance, direction and focus to ensure R& D, marketing and supply chain teams achieve their plans and schedules.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Customer first mindset.The ability to work in an agile environment.

Always looking for ways to improve processes and have the teams work more efficiently.Manages and leads the cross-functional team activities.

Acts as the first level of escalation when issues and/or priorities cannot be resolved at the team level.

Ensures ownership of escalations.Responsible for developing the execution plan which defines the objectives, deliverables and detailed plans.

Negotiates alternatives to achieve an executable plan that meets the program objectives.

Escalates issues when necessary to obtain funding and investment alignment for execution activities.Responsible for identifying key milestones, assessing resources needed and obtaining resource commitments from key partners.

Works with peers and managers in other functional areas – Maketing, R& D, Supply Chain, Supportand other to ensure the program can be delivered as defined.Responsible for surfacing issues and disconnects within the program and managing all such issues to resolution.

Track and resolve all conditions and exceptions to closure.Sets objectives and priorities and drives tradeoff decisions between program plans/schedules.

Ensures ownership by appropriate team, manager or organization.

Influences partner organizations to meet program objectivesReviews and coordinates the numerous execution plans and schedules to monitor deliverables and potential slips in schedule, quality or cost.

Proactively identifies risks and linkages.

Anticipates potential problems.

Ensures contingency plans are created and proper coordination occurs.Effectively and proficiently communicates status, issues and resolutions to the program team and key stakeholders.

Prepares and delivers checkpoint presentations to management.

The ideal candidate would have the following Skills and Qualifications:Experience with the Mckinsey problem solving method or similar.Greater than five years of relavent industry experience including demonstrated knowledge of project management processes and tools.Experience in delivering a solution across the full value chain of a program including: Product Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Go-to-marketing, Finance, etc.Ability to define and influence solutions across the regions and GBU functional areas for cost deviations negatively impacting the businessDemonstrated project management fundamentals experience including defining, scheduling, tracking, communicating status and managing projects.Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, organization and facilitation skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze issues, generate plans, and communicate effectively and diplomatically.Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and change.Passion to always look to learn and improve current processes Knowledge and Skills:Growth mindset, always looking for ways to improve processesWilling to take calculated risk to meet program objectivesStrong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.Strong project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.Strong business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
