Flatirons Solutions is hiring a Junior DevOps Engineer!

In this role, you play a significant role in the design and deployment of our core product suite into Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

Your responsibilities include participating in the transformation of our current software build, test, and deployment process, into an automated DevOps process; specifically for our software solutions used by our customers who rely on mission-critical data to design, manufacture, operate, or maintain complex assets over their product and service life-cycles as well as across multi-echelon business networks.

You should be well versed in DevOps technologies, automation, infrastructure orchestration, configuration management and continuous integration, and not constrained by how things are usually done, rather how they should be done better.

What You Will Be Doing

Automate and streamline our procedures and processes


Design and configure build and deployments to an Cloud environment from the ground up

Participate in initiatives to develop and implement organizational improvements for DevOps and the adoption in our organization

Create and maintain deployment configurations for project teams

Identify and resolve issues related to the build and deployment environments

Create, maintain, and extend DevOps tools and scripts as needed

Employ Agile/TDD best practices as it relates to DevOps

Focus on implementing automated tasks to replace existing manual software build and deployment tasks

Work closely and mentor other DevOps team members for cross-operational training

Thoroughly document and maintain detailed, accurate build, deployment, and environment information

Coordinate DevOps deployment activities with various internal and external customer stakeholders

Consult with Product Architects to resolve any DevOps deployment challenges with our product suite

Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System and the Information Security Management System

Other duties as assigned

Have a problem-solving and troubleshooting attitude

Be self-sufficient and self-motivated to work on cutting-edge task assignments

Strong verbal and written communication skills


2+ years with containerized cloud deployments preferably in an AWS environment

2+ years configuring Jenkins

2+ years with Docker

2+ years experience deploying and operating Kubernetes at scale

Experience with Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments

Experience envisioning and architecting cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools

Experience with microservices and distributed application architecture

Used Jira for issue and project tracking

Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices

Worked in a DevOps organization with local and remote team members

Demonstrated knowledge of build and deployment-related technologies

Have deployed mission-critical software enterprise solutions

Understanding of cloud security requirements

Basic Qualifications

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or directly related field

2+ years of demonstrated DevOps transformation experience

2+ years provisioning, operating, and managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) production environments

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate

4+ years working on Linux environments
