POSITION PROFILE First line manager of a software engineering department of software engineers engaged in the conceptualizing, planning, designing and testing state-of-the-art systems products.

Breakthroughs in concepts and designs have a significant impact on resources and cost.

Manages a first line department of senior, advisory and staff professional software engineers. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Discharges basic management responsibilities as assigned. Develops and establishes operational policies within managed area and involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that may have company-wide effect. Participates in development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the function. Works with customers and users to understand requirements.

Conceptualizes techniques to address systems problems. Participates in the development of operating and long range plans and technical strategies. Leads and is active in design, development, and testing of systems. Assures activity is completed within committed objectives, schedules and costs.

Develops alternative solutions in the event of deviations..

Experimental and state-of-the-art software ideas and systems will have significant effect on programming systems across other products. Faulty decisions can have a serious effect on success of functional and/or company operations which may jeopardize overall business activities. Keeps users, customers apprised of progress or problems in development process. Makes status and plan presentations to executive level management. May participate in development of functional strategy Assures documentation of project activity. Represents the company at technical conferences and makes technical presentations. Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art developments in programming; integrates into programming design. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications) Broad knowledge of computer technology, advanced systems design programming languages, and software products.

Obtained through a Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experienceExperience managing a field support team providing 24×7 support for customers located in the Americas and Asia Pacific (on call support provided for non-Americas customersExperience managing a software development team, including working with Project Managers, Architects, and Developers to set goals and objectives, monitor performance, and recruit new team membersExperience managing both on premise and remote team membersAdditional skills: concise communication and reporting of field issue status to stakeholders including company and customer executives, coordinating off shift on call schedules, working closely with peer development managers to engage development resources to resolve customer issues Ricoh is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer –
