Overview: While your main role is to write direct response financial copy to sell subscriptions to our research, the role is much, much more than that.

A Copywriter at Stansberry Research is curious thinker, an idea generator, a storyteller, and a traveler.

Responsibilities: Writing – 50% of work day – Put together all of the various assets required to launch and sustain a marketing campaign as outlined by our team copy process – supervised by direct manager and copy chief – requires the ability to do focused work toward a goal/deadline, analyze and interpret data sets, interview coworkers, research an unlimited number of topics, and put together various pieces of marketing materials from short 100 character ads to cohesive 50 page marketing packages.Reading & Research – 25% of workday – Copywriter is expected to read all of the editorial content we produce as well as actively read books, research papers, and news articles that support the copy project they are assigned to – generally unsupervised – must be able to apply reading to their current assignments to establish proof and credibility.Project Coordination – 15% of workday – Copywriter is expected to attend/organize meetings and perform other tasks to make sure their projects are executed properly – supervised by direct manager or copy chief – requires the ability to plan ahead, manage many moving parts, stay organized and coordinate and communicate effectively with other teams and often superiors.Peer Review – 5% of workday – Copywriter is expected to read and offer feedback on their teammate’s writings – supervised by direct manager or copy chief – requires the ability to analyze and offer feedback on copy, active participation, and offering suggestions for ways that teammates can improve their work.

Requires an understanding of our businesses past performance, market sentiment, and core copywriting principles.Marketplace assessment – 5% of workday
– Copywriter is expected to study all of the channels where our copy and competitor’s copy is currently running – supervised by direct manager or copy chief – requires an understanding of the business and where/how we market, access to marketing results and data, and time studying/evaluating what’s working in our marketplace.

Qualifications: 1-3 years of past copywriting experience is preferred.Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Art, Pre-law, Philosophy, English, History or equivalent preferred.Strong attention to detail and grammar skills.Have an entrepreneurial spirit and able to work under little supervision.Ability to multitask, handling multiple projects at one time.Deadline driven and able to work under pressure.Strong interest in the news, politics and global affairs is a plus.Comfortable selling and being able to close deals.Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.Visual acuity for reading and using the computer.Ability to hear.Ability to freely move about the office.Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time.Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information.Fluency in the English language.
