Credentialing Specialist (Starting: $22.00 – $25.00 BOE)

This is a Full-time position in Fort Collins, CO posted October 11, 2021.


This position can be located in Fort Collins, Co. OR Lakewood Co. This is not a remote position.

The right candidate will be extremely organized, able to work independently and conscientious. The credentialing specialist will be accountable for all aspects of the credentialing, re-credentialing and the privileging processes for all medical providers who provide patient care. This person will be in charge of ensuring providers are credentialed, appointed, and privileged with health plans, hospitals and patient care facilities. Maintaining up-to-date data for each provider in credentialing databases and online systems; guarantee timely renewal of licenses and certifications. In order to be successful at this position, the right person would need to be able to ensure accuracy, confidentiality and prevalence of all information. The preferred candidate will have the ability to multi tasks several items & deadlines at once, be reliable and have excellent people skills.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Compiles and maintains current and accurate data for all providers.
  • Completes provider credentialing and recredentialing applications; monitors applications and follows-up as needed.
  • Maintains copies of current state licenses, DEA certificates, malpractice coverage and any other required credentialing documents for all providers.
  • Maintains Accredited requirements for ASC and corporate provider contract files.
  • Maintains knowledge of current health plan and agency requirements for credentialing providers.
  • Sets up and maintains provider information in online credentialing databases and system.
  • Tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.
  • Ensures practice addresses are current with health plans, agencies and other entities.
  • Processes applications for appointment and reappointment of privileges to The Doctors Clinic (ASC).
  • Tracks license, DEA and professional liability expirations for appointed ASC providers.
  • Maintains ASC appointment files, and information in credentialing database.
  • Audits health plan directories for current and accurate provider information.
  • Maintains accurate provider affiliations with CAQH, PECCOS, NPPES & CMS
  • Makes suggestions & modifications to modernize the process & efficiency

Performance/Skills Requirements:

  • Maintains confidentiality of provider information (HIPPAA compliance)
  • Provides credentialing and privileging verifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including letters, memos and emails.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to research and analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources.



  • Ability to focus for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 2+ years of credentialing experience with in a medical practice
  • Experience and working knowledge of credentialing and the direct impact on the practice’s revenue cycle
  • Ability to plan & prioritize daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities
  • AA in Medical office technology or similar field


Pay range is $22.00 – $25.00 based on experience.
