Position Summary

The Extension Program Aid for 4-H Youth Development in Boulder County will develop program development skills, volunteer coordination experience, event planning/management skills, etc. The individual will have the opportunity to develop, deliver, and evaluate youth educational programs. Programming may also include day camps, outreach events, and other 4-H programs. The program aid will assist in supporting the entire 4-H Youth Development Program in Boulder County and supporting the County Fair and all 4-H events. This position will run from the end of May to middle of August and be based on 40 hours per week. Schedule will vary from week to week and will involve some weekends and evenings.

As a member of the 4-H team, this individual will be assisting the 4-H Agents and 4-H Program Assistant with the 4-H club program. This individual works under the supervision of the other Boulder County 4-H staff members including the Extension Agent 4-H livestock, the Extension Agent 4-H Outreach, the 4-H program assistant, and a 4-H support staff.

Position Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or have completed coursework, as an undergraduate college student in a degree program, or have work experience, with a focus on youth development, education, science, agriculture, or related field.

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision, self-starter.

  • Capable of balancing multiple projects at the same time.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work on a team.

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.

  • Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed two or more years of college course work focusing on youth development, education, science, agriculture, or related field.

  • Computer and office equipment experience

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with technology including various computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word etc.

Essential Job Duties

  • Work with 4-H staff to plan county 4-H programs including coordinating volunteers and planning events and overall management of tasks from start to finish.

  • Coordinate interview judging day paperwork and tasks with 4-H Secretary and Agent
