9:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday with flexibility
PAY
Non-Exempt Salaried position $40,000 to $50,000 depending on experience in the area of grounds keeping.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Perform tasks related to the maintenance, cleanliness of the grounds, and grounds logistics.

Job Requirements:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds in accordance with good horticultural practice.

Plan and direct grounds maintenance programs for the control of weeds, shrubs pruning, plants, seeding, tree diseases, etc.

Effectively manage the quality and control of relevant contractors such as snow removal, mowing, trees, sprinkler system, fertilization, weed control, etc.

Organize the maintenance and repair of all gardening equipment, landscape, furnishings, signage and some building exterior.

Formulate immediate and long-range plans securing the future of grounds and tree management.

Prepare cost estimates for the grounds project while monitoring Budgets.

Develop a detailed calendar including seeding, weed control, fertilization and aeration including a detailed report of costs of materials and products utilized.

Maintain parking lots, concrete surfaces inside campus as well as exterior perimeters and grounds free of debris and by backpack blowing, sweeping and disposing of debris.

Daily management and functioning of sprinkler controls systems.

Prioritize students, faculty and staff safety by monitoring snow and ice buildup by spreading ice melt on public passageways.

Routinely water flower beds, planters, trees and perennials.

Mow and trim the grounds Assist with the set-up and tear down of events both inside and outside on the grounds Backup to the Facilities Manager and Day Porter (custodian) REQUIREMENTS
Experience in Horticulture a plus Highly motivated to maintain the grounds at a pristine level.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as a lead, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to advise the project committee on planting and grounds logistics.

Taking initiative in projects that require immediate attention.

Ability to make recommendations concerning the management and maintenance of grounds.

Availability to work outside of regular shift hours including some weekends.

Assist with campus security.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.
