Weld County Government

This is a Full-time position in Greeley, CO posted July 20, 2021.

Description

The Process Server is a civilian employee of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office whose primary duty is serving civil papers on persons as required.

This position is 24 hours per week. Late afternoon to evening work hours.

The starting pay is $20.46 – $25.90 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting).

As an applicant for this position, you should be aware of Senate Bill 19-085, the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The act requires employers to announce the pay range for job openings. This range encompasses the nine pay steps available should you receive the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time. The starting pay is $20.46 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Insure oral and written directives, policy, and ordinances of Weld County and the Sheriff are consistently and uniformly applied.
  • Serve civil papers on persons as required. Some contacts may be stressful, emotionally.
  • Work effectively in groups of peers and other employees.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle to deliver civil papers.
  • Query the Sheriff’s Office computer to access data needed for job functions.
  • Input data into Sheriff’s Office computer to document activities regarding service of civil papers.
  • Operate a computer in a Personal Computer environment and a voice in-house phone system and cell phone to communicate with other employees.
  • Observe all statutory requirements in the service of civil papers.
  • Complete all paperwork as required.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion within legal and departmental guidelines to achieve desired results.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Preferred work experience:

Previous experience in a position with high public contact helpful.

Required skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening: background, polygraph, drug screen.
  • Must be in possession of, or ability to obtain upon hire, a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • The Weld County Sheriff’s Office prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art, and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone).

Other Necessary Requirements

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend manuals to operate equipment required to carry out the essential functions of the job. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the general public or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Computer Skills: Must be able to enter data into Spillman using appropriate formats. Training will be provided for software as needed.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems and collect data.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to work both indoors and outdoors. This will require sitting, standing and walking for up to eight hours per shift.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus for compliance in operation of motor vehicle.

General: May be required to work unusual hours, including weekends and evenings. Must perform duties with integrity. Daily contact with persons from a wide range of backgrounds; some contacts may be emotionally intense.
