Transload Operator-RR

Great Western Railway of Colorado, LLC

This is a Full-time position in Fort Collins, CO posted September 15, 2021.


The Transload Operator performs specified tasks at a transload facility to meet safety, quality, and efficiency goals while supporting the policies and objectives of the Company.

Safely executes loading and unloading between truck, rail, and storage of various commodities, which may include, not limited to: petroleum products, agricultural products, building materials, aggregates (sand, rock, etc.) and chemicals at an assigned facility.

The Transload Operator demonstrates and adheres to the company values of: safety, honesty, ownership, respect and teamwork to ensure successful partnership with customers and employees that result in OmniTRAXs continued success.

Safely load and unload (i.e.

transload) various commodities between truck, rail, and storage as required per specified operation Safely operate various types of equipment Inspect and trouble shoot equipment; perform minor repairs and routine maintenance of equipment Report verbally and in writing as required; maintain accurate records: activity, inventory, incidents, violations, maintenance, etc.

Safely direct truck drivers to proper loading/unloading areas, operate truck scale and prepare/distribute truck Bills of Ladings Understand and follow all policies, procedures and safety rules as applicable to operation, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations Follow all Company policies and procedures pertaining to job function, equipment, and safety Participate in keeping general work space and equipment clean and maintained Monitor outside parties performing work at the facility Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, cost savings and efficiencies
Participate in the set-up of new facilities and equipment Flexibility and willingness to report for duty at alternate sites within 20 mi (32 km) radius of primary on-duty point; work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime and various shift work Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries Wear required protective equipment (PPE) such as: hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, safety glasses etc.

18 years of age or older Operate machinery and performing basic mechanical service and repairs Understand and comply with procedures pertaining to emergencies Work cooperatively with superiors and other employees Focused and detail oriented Self-motivated; carry out tasks independently and meet Company deadlines and objectives Write legibly to complete reports and other Company documents Basic computer skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively communicate with all level of employees and business associates in a clear, concise and professional manner Produce effective verbal and/or written daily reports for both internal and external use Read, comprehend and comply with published rules, procedures and manuals, inspection checklists, government regulation, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information Demonstrate problem solving and troubleshooting skills resulting in effective resolution Professional integrity and accountability Work in fast-paced collaborative environment
Valid Drivers License
Experience in Transportation (truck, rail or air), Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil & Gas Service work High School Diploma/GED 1-year experience with transload or material handling operations: bulk carrier or railroad
Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by the weather including: snow, rain, heat and sub-freezing temps; loud noise and fumes from gas, oil and grease
Limited overnight travel as business requires
