Retail Category Specialist-Deli/Meat – Remote

The Fresh Category Specialist is focused on the account sales and growth, in their respective Fresh category
– Deli/Meat.

The Fresh Deli/Meat category includes items such as deli meats, fresh salads, olives and sliced cheeses.

The Category Specialist supports business operational metrics and activities, along with value creation initiatives.

The Category Specialist will be primarily responsible and accountable for growing new vendor relationships and ensure the P&L is supported with strong inside income.

The Fresh Category Specialist will focus on partnerships with the Customers and Account Management/Sales Team to grow and develop culinary business with our key vendor partners.

This is a remote position and can sit anywhere in the United States.

Monitor consumer purchasing trends and emerging products to maintain the industry’s most relevant assortment of products to maintain the industry’s most relevant assortment of culinary products.

Grow and develop the culinary category by selling current offerings and bringing in new ideas and relevant products  Execute category reviews with the support of the Vendor Support team.

Participate when needed on Vendor and SKU rationalization initiatives and provide input to ensure our vendors and SKU’s align with the Category Director’s and Company’s long term strategies  Work as a team player for planning and implementation of collective projects such as:  Internal and external trade shows and pavilions, KeHE publications, webinars, and retailer programs.  Work collegially and productively with all headquarter teams to achieve quick traction for new products, programs, and continuous sales growth for existing product lines  Enable KeHE’s account management and field sales teams by generating “industry best” product selling information/presentations  Participate in key new account customer meetings with Category Director focused on presenting category and distribution capabilities   Conduct and run quarterly business reviews with Key Accounts in conjunction with Account Manager   Conduct and participate in meetings/presentations with customer accounts focused on improving the customer relationship and/or increasing sku profitability  Maintain and update respective category mix by Distribution Center  Maintain safeguards of confidential company information Other duties and special projects as requested  4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools Willingness to keep abreast of new techniques in corporate teaching Proficient in MS Office (esp.

Powerpoint); e-learning software is an asset Phenomenal communication, presentation and public speaking skills Organizational and time management abilities Critical thinking and decision making Proven track record of meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

Ability to travel extensively to meet with and to manage key accounts up to 60 percent Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.

Ability to problem-solve complex issues.

Demonstrate a high level of independence and self-motivated
– take initiative and show resourcefulness while working in a flexible team environment.
