and QualificationsAir Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Manager Business Development in Houston, TX.

Our Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting and/or leading the development of specific sale of gas/build own operate (SOG/BOO) for Hydrogen/Carbon Monoxide (HyCO), synthesis gas (syngas) and large-scale downstream processes such as ammonia and methanol, as well as oxygen opportunities greater than 2000 TPD of capacity, larger scale asset acquisition, and gasification SOG opportunities.

The successful candidate should have broad commercial and technical knowledge of HyCO and air separation plant offerings, the ability to develop external relationships and be capable of handling complex negotiations.

The position requires a strong, well-rounded candidate who has project development and execution experience; a good business, financial, and legal knowledge base; and a strong desire to continue to learn and build their skillsets.

Candidates should have cross-functional and commercial experience, solid analytical and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a sense of ownership and accountability for results, and be a strong team leader.The role utilizes specialized technical/product knowledge to sell and promote Air Products industrial gases offerings with a focus on SOG/BOO.

Capital values for these opportunities will range from $50MM to $1B.Principal duties and responsibilitiesPrinciple responsibilities include:Understanding of the development of “blue” and “green” products, various incentive schemes, and value levers, in order to drive/support the development of new opportunities, working collaboratively with BD and commercial colleaguesAbility to successfully lead teams in project developmentUnderstanding the decision-making processes that stakeholders apply in developing their projectsDeveloping and implementing plans to ensure early engagement in target opportunitiesTracking opportunities through various stages of development and preparation of Opportunity Summary Documents, Budget, and Firm Pricing Approvals; gaining necessary internal approvals to pursueCoordinating internal teams to ensure preparation of proposals in a quality and timely mannerLeading technical and commercial clarification meetings and negotiations of major contracts andDeal closureSkills:Excellent communication skills with a strong commercial abilityProduct and application knowledge about Industrial Gases market in AmericasAbility to engage effectively and build credibility with a variety of external and internal stakeholders (technical, functional (e.G., finance), commercial) at a variety of levels from operational to executive management, ministerial level etc.Strong data analysis and financial analysis capabilitiesAble to achieve high customer and client satisfactionBe able to multitaskAbility to both lead strategically and act tactically, as the opportunity requiresSelf motivated, responsible, well organizedEducation and experience:Degree in an Engineering field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), MBA (preferred) and 10 years of years related experience.
