Manager, Commercial Operations

Crowley

This is a Full-time position in Loveland, CO posted September 14, 2021.

Responsible for managing the Commercial Operations department providing efficient, safe and reliable ship assist and escort service, maintaining customer relations and accounts so that they remain current, establishing regular contact with third parties that direct towing services and providing alternative solutions to challenges that will arise.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that customer requirements are met in accordance with applicable job orders and contracts.

Review job economics and calculate job estimates in support of sales team.

In collaboration with sales team provide communication and resolution of customer inquiries, requests, or complaints with various departments.

Assist sales team in maintaining contracts , associated records, and backup documentation in compliance with Corporate records retention policy.

Review job orders and planning with dispatch team.

Provide updates to all concerned parties as necessary.

Collaborate with billing team to ensure billings are accurate, invoiced timely, and assist in collection of same.

Develop and publish historic and projected schedules and plans.

Monitor, track, and analyze job performance measures and distributions as well as monitor and analyze competitors job performance.

Establish and maintain relationships with local port entities, agents, and pilots and other port services in areas that the company serves.

Develop and maintain business relations with competitors and potential customers in support of the sales team.

Attend local industry events.

Participate in Emergency Response and Crisis Management teams.

Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation or a related field.

Maritime Academy preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5 to 10 years in vessel operations, agency management, chartering, marine transportation experience.

Seagoing experience is preferred.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: High level of proficiency (mastery) with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerBI (or similar analysis tools).

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop improvements or alternatives.

Strong understanding of commercial contracts and contract law, preferably maritime.

High level of knowledge of applicable computer applications and computer functions.

Ability to prepare, monitor and administer job and contract analyses, as well as the ability to perform financial analysis.

Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team.

Ability to directly or indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees.

Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.

Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization.

Ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization.

Ability to adapt to changing work demands.

Knowledge of federal and state marine regulations.

Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of change management.

OTHER: Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

USCG Licensed Officer preferred.
