Vice President Operations

This is a Full-time position in Greeley, CO posted April 5, 2021.

nnBurris Company, a manufacturer of sports optics located in Greeley, Colorado, is looking for an experienced Vice President of Operations.

This person should have strong experience in Manufacturing, finished goods Sourcing, Engineering, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, and Quality Assurance.

The focus of this executive-level position is to develop and implement long and short-range strategic objectives, operating business plans, policies, and budget to ensure organizational growth and financial performance.nn nn n nn Meet the financial objectives of the company by managing the areas of manufacturing, purchasing, supplier selection, supplier relationships, quality, cost reduction, inventory management, delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and plant performance measures.

Development of long and short-range planning, policies, budgets, programs, and objectives.

Manage / improve company buying procedures.

Establish S&OP rhythm.

Negotiation of large contracts, terms, pricing, vendor / supplier selection, management and evaluations.

Optimize logistics to meet schedule requirements and reduce costs.

Oversee the entire product development cycle.

Involved with defining, scheduling, and managing multiple projects from inception through production to either in-house or via suppliers.

Develop close relationships with key strategic manufacturing suppliers, especially in Asia.

Maintain high standards of operations throughout, to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.

Ensure in-house operations are completed in standard times and at standard costs.

Responsible for overseeing inventory management of raw material, WIP, and finished product.

Identify ways to streamline processes and better utilize resources to improve company profitability.

Ensure all areas are structured to meet present and future operations requirements, including definition and proposal of building and layout modifications, and proposal and justification of capital equipment expenditures.

Oversee overall building maintenance, trouble shooting and preventative care of equipment.

Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, problem resolution, coaching, training, and development.

Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work areas adhering to and enforcing all safety requirements.

Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity.

Lead and manage teams by establishing goals, seeking buy-in and commitment and inspiring an innovative, creative and collaborative work environment.

May acquire additional responsibilities and/or projects.

nn nn nn Education & experience requirements: nn Bachelor’s degree or twelve years related experience.

Experience as a plant manager, operations director or manufacturing manager.

Extensive experience in the development, negotiation and implementation of contracts.

Experience in sourcing/supply chain leadership role.

(Asia experience a must) Experience in lean manufacturing techniques.

Experience managing operations in an ISO environment.

Project Management Certification a plus.

Experience in job cost analysis and running manufacturing operations within budget objectives.

Strong active listening, verbal and written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.

Solid knowledge and understanding of ERP and MRP systems, and the ability to learn new software and order management systems quickly.

Familiarity with terminology as it relates to the optics industry.

Ability to travel internationally on a quarterly basis for durations up to 3 weeks.

2 weeks/trip is the norm.

– $160,000 nn
