The Yoder Automotive Group of Companies is a full suite of Automotive sales, service and finance companies that has been in business for over 100 years and proudly employ over 300 people and growing strong.Parts Department Manager Position SummaryThe Parts Manager runs an efficient and profitable Parts Department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achieving objectives, and maintenance of all parts records.

S/he is responsible for overseeing the operations of locating, ordering, receiving, and verifying parts.

S/he ensures that incorrect or damaged parts are returned to the vendor and monitors credits for the returns.

S/he ensures employees use the parts processes to efficiently swap out old parts with new ones and keep the work area organized.

S/he ensures that all work is performed with the goal of expediting all repairs requiring parts and keeping the cycle time as low as possible.

S/he is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization.Essential Duties and Major ResponsibilitiesEffectively manages a profitable Parts Department and high volume of work.Ensures that the department is providing exceptional customer service to all parts customers.Monitors all daily processes that include customer sales, internal parts sales, inventory control, parts purchasing, vendor relations, and special orders.Regularly audits repair orders ensuring parts are charged out on repair orders.Assists in the timely return of Cores, Warranty Parts, and Obsolete Parts to all vendors for all locations.Communicates with customers before issues arise and gets involved in escalated customer issues.Develops strong working relationships with all other departments.Directs and schedules the activities of all department associates.Ensures that all the necessary equipment is in proper working condition.Manages the fleet of delivery trucks.Ensures that proper sales techniques and processes are being used.Ensures that all parts department employees follow safety policies, rules, and practices and that they report all accidents immediately.Completes all applicable WC paperwork and accident investigations and follows up regularly on all workers’ compensation cases.Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the parts department.Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat referral business.Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.Prepares and administers annual/monthly operating budgets for the Parts Department.Maintains high levels of cleanliness, equipment repairs, and department appearance while ensuring a safe working condition.Works with the Service Department to ensure proper stocking of high use parts.Maintains accurate records and ensures warranty parts retention as outlined, following all manufacturer requirements as outlined in manufacturer and company policy and procedures manuals.Reports to management any circumstances that compromise the integrity of the dealership.Maintains reporting systems as required by dealership and manufacturer.Manages and develops outside parts sales opportunities.Monitors and assures completion of all training that parts personnel must complete.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business desired.Experience5+ years’ Previous Parts experience required.5 + years of Dealership, Service & Parts preferred.3+ years Previous department management experience preferred.Specialized SkillsBasic MS Office knowledge; computer software/Automotive Dealer DMS/internet proficiency; working knowledge of vendor websites for order placement, cataloging, and general product knowledge.Excellent verbal/written communication skills.Excellent in-person and over the phone communication abilities, including the ability to give full attention to what other people are saying and taking time to understand them, asking questions as appropriate, managing and understanding others’ reactions, and resolving issues tactfully.Working knowledge of activities, methods, procedures, and policies of a Parts Department.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.Ability to provide and prioritize excellent customer service.Strong accounting skills/awareness for costs and schedules.Ability to logically identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to complex problems and incorporate understanding of new information to implement productive and cost-effective solutions.Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Monitoring/assessing performance of oneself and others to make improvements or take corrective action.Actively looking for ways to help people.Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information, especially as relates to understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.Professional personal appearance, including appropriate work attire and hygiene.Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.Knowledge of auto body parts and the ordering process.Experience working with multiple vendors and locating new sources.Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.Supervisory Expectations:Directly supervises one or more employees.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Work HoursRegular work hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The schedule is between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with evening and weekends as needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.
